This is who YOU should VOTE for!
A timely Public Service Announcement.
Hey there comrade!
So today in my country (Nigeria), the presidential and national assembly elections will take place, and there has been soooo much talk about voting wisely. So, I thought, why not share some insight that will help people do just that.
This will be short and simple, you know, just in case you are already on your way to your polling unit, or you are reading this after the long day of “civic responsibility”.
I’d like to quickly share something I observed, and I think you might have noticed it as well... then we’ll get to who you should vote for.
You see, we’ve grown (tooooo) used to downplaying things,
I’m not sure how we inherited or invented this culture, but somewhere along the line, we did.
We downplay EVERYTHING,
Our looks,
Our achievements,
Our good features,
Our compliments,
Our lives,
Damn! Our lives!!
We’ve gotten used to living below who we are… Yes, we downplay everything we can until we are but mere shadows of a once glorious past.
God says He is all powerful. He says He precedes time. He says He is all knowing.
We (that believe) believe Him. We believe that He is all (that is, every single "braggadocios" thing) He says He is!
We don't think it's pride, do we?
Just as we don't think the Leopard is showing off when it runs?
How about the Lion? Do we think it arrogant when it roars?
And the Eagle, when it flies so high, up in the sky?
Do we consider the Ocean rude when it waves,
Or think the Sun is acting out of place as it shines?
These parts of nature have accepted their true identity and roles, and they play it ever so well.
So, why do we feel the intense need to reduce what and who we are?
From where did we learn these lessons? Where are the notes we took on “The Art of Downplaying”?
Someone please show them to me so I can set them on fire… with hopes that we’ll be set on fire & set free…
Then maybe we’d be able to see that beauty doesn’t lie in living less than we were made to be.
We’ve gotten used to living below who we are… Yes, we downplay everything we can until we’re but mere shadows of a once glorious past.
I pray we downplay this culture so much it doesn’t last… and for our sake and the sake of the unborn, I pray we downplay it fast!
Why would you think it's pride to say what you are?
You are brilliant.
You are talented.
You are exceptional.
You are one of a kind, literally...
If you’ve discovered who you are & how much of God’s light shines in you, then…
Say it Loud!
Say it Proud!
Notice every amazing thing in and about you
And say it NOW!
…As for who you should vote for, I don’t know if you noticed so far that I am voting for you, wishing that you accept all the goodness and greatness God equipped you with, praying that next time you are tempted to look down on yourself, you remember these words and choose yourself.
Yes yes, I risked using a (debatable) click bait to ensure you got this message.
Because I know you are made for sooooo much more than you might have come to terms with, so I’ll do my part to keep rooting for you, hoping that you always vote for YOU!
