Hey fam,
In my last post…
I made a poll…
So… you asked, and I answered.
I bet you want people to listen when you speak. You want your clients to respond when you reach, and you want your words to evoke the feelings that you seek.
Forgive my manners, but today I feel like cutting to the chase. Probably because it’s not been easy finding time to write this, or maybe because I mean business and wouldn’t want you to miss the point.
In any case, it would interest you (or quite frankly you might not care) to know that my readers cut across a wide range of people. From entrepreneurs, to students, pastors, 9-5ers, job seekers, coaches, creatives… just name it, there’s a good chance they’re here. I said that to say that regardless of the category you belong to, you can NOT help but communicate. And believe me, the better you are at it, the “easier” it’ll be to get what you want from people.
If you are interested in storytelling for business, public speaking, teaching, or any endeavor that can be enhanced by communicating effectively, then take note of these three questions. They changed the way I tell stories, the way I speak, and the way I write, and they will do wonders to your creative process, if you use them right.
Before you create any piece of content, whether educational, promotional, inspirational, or entertaining, ask yourself:
What do I want them to Know?
What do I want them to Feel?
What do I want them to Do?
Sounds easy yeah? Well, in theory, it is. Yet, it’s even easier to lose your audience if you don’t intentionally let the questions guide you.
My first instinct was to take a deeper dive into these three questions, but then I remembered the caliber of people I’m speaking to and decided not to waste your time.
For this post, I simply wanted you to know that no matter your background or training, you can communicate soooo much better and tell unforgettable stories, and that simply using the tools I shared will help you achieve that. Then I wanted you to feel empowered and armed with what you need to get through to any audience. Then lastly, my desire was that when you were done reading, you would quickly do the needful and apply it to your next piece of content or creative project.
See, I could give you many more communication and storytelling hacks, some that cut across the one on this post and others not so much. But if you start by applying this, I promise that you will become at least 3 times better at communicating than you are now.
With the way I’m invested in you, you should already have an idea of how much I’m rooting for you.
Keep Breathing.
Very Insightful👏🏼
Looking forward to intentionally applying these steps to my Comms going forward.
Thanks for another great piece🙌🏼
